How to use the Acupressure Mat :
Firstly choose your surface, bed or cough to give you a little more give when you lay down or the floor for a more solid surface.
Start with layers, while it is said to get the most benefit from your acupressure mat comes with laying bare-skinned, but to reduce initial intensity you can wear thin clothes or have a thin sheet in between the mat and your body.
Using the mat on your neck, shoulders and back is the most popular areas to start, however you can use it on the entire body.
Placing your hands and forearms over the mat could be a good area to start with, as it’s a lighter pressure on your skin.
Try standing on the mat, to reduce the intensity of standing directly onto the mat with full pressure you could alternate feet, sitting with your feet on the mat and apply pressure to suit your sensitivity. Socks can also be worn.
It does feel uncomfortable at first but after 10 – 40 seconds the intensity reduces and it begins to feel tingly, pulsating and warm on the skin as the body is moving blood into the area. From 4 minutes onwards your ‘feel good’ hormones start to activate, circulation improves, muscles feel relaxed, tension eases and leaves you feeling calm and restful.
Recommended time is 20+ minutes on the back, 10+ minutes on the neck and shoulders, 5+ minutes on the stomach, 10+ minutes on your feet, arms and hands.
2+ minutes will still have some benefit to your body.
Ongoing use of your acupressure mat will support your mind and body to feel health and a great sense of well-being.
Not to be used with certain medical conditions:
When you have any type of skin infection as it can increase the spreading.
Any Neuropathy as you may inadvertently pierce the skin and cause problems.
